    How It Works

    Each image is drawn onto an off-screen canvas, then re-encoded in the target format using the browser’s built-in image encoder. Converting to JPG flattens transparency onto a white background, since JPG has no alpha channel.

    Important Notes

    Converting to JPG permanently removes transparency (replaced with white). Converting a JPG to PNG or WebP will not restore quality lost from earlier JPG compression, since that data is already gone.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?

    JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent areas in a PNG or WebP image are filled with white when converted to JPG. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.

    Which format should I choose?

    WebP usually gives the smallest file size with good quality and supports transparency, but a small number of older tools do not support it. JPG is best for photos without transparency. PNG is best when you need lossless quality or transparency and broad compatibility.

    Can I convert multiple images at once?

    Yes, upload as many images as you like and they will all convert to the same target format.

    Does the quality slider affect PNG output?

    No. PNG is always encoded losslessly by the browser, so the quality slider only affects JPG and WebP output.

    Will converting reduce my file size?

    Often yes, especially when converting a PNG to JPG or WebP, since those formats compress photographic detail more efficiently. Results vary by image content.
