Enter your hourly rate and billable time to calculate an invoice total — useful for freelancers, consultants, and contractors.

Total Billable Time

2.50 hrs

Total Amount

$187.50

How to Use This Tool

  1. Enter your hourly billing rate.
  2. Enter the billable hours and minutes.
  3. Enter how many days or projects this applies to (use 1 for a single total).
  4. Your total billable time and invoice amount update instantly.

How It Works

total = (hours + minutes / 60) × rate × number of days or projects

Example

2 hours 30 minutes at a $75/hr rate, for 1 project:

(2 + 30/60) × 75 = 2.5 × 75 = $187.50.

Benefits

  • Quick invoice totals without a spreadsheet.
  • Multiply across repeated days or projects.
  • Works with any hourly rate or currency.

Important Notes

This tool calculates a straightforward total from the numbers you provide. It does not apply taxes, minimum billing increments, or currency conversion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the "number of days or projects" field for?

Use it to multiply a single billable session across several identical days or projects — for example, if you bill the same 2 hours a day for 5 days, enter 5. Leave it at 1 for a single calculation.

Can I bill in a currency other than USD?

Yes. The calculator does not restrict the rate to US dollars — enter your rate in whatever currency you invoice in and treat the total the same way. The display simply uses a dollar-style format.

How do I enter partial hours, like 45 minutes?

Enter 0 in the hours field and 45 in the minutes field, or combine them, such as 2 hours and 45 minutes for 2 hours 45 minutes of billable time.

Does this round billable time to the nearest increment?

No, this calculator uses your exact minutes. Some firms round billable time to the nearest 6 or 15 minutes — apply that rounding to your minutes before entering them here if your billing policy requires it.
